Boris Is Coming!

Japanese drone legends Boris are currently touring Canada and the U.S. in support of their recent release, Smile. Unlike a lot of overseas bands who only frequent the major cities when coming to our shores, Boris is nice enough to schedule some stops in often overlooked places like Buffalo, Danbury, and a bunch of towns in Iowa.

With a young and growing blog such as Rapid Transit Radio, we are constantly trying new things out.  While weekly features and writers may change from time to time, one thing that will always remain the same is our dedication to cover new, up and coming, and talented bands.  As I’m sitting here working on my next post, I wondered to myself what the readers of Rapid Transit Radio would like to see covered on the blog.

Mix Tape Monday #1

This is going to be a new weekly feature at Rapid Transit Radio.  Every week, one of our writers is going to do a rundown of a few bands they have been listening to lately with links to where you can check them out.  Without further adieu, here is my mix for this week:
1. Last Days of April- For the longest time, I only had (and listened to constantly) their album Angel Youth.  That album is so perfect that I never desired to seek out anything else by them until …

6 Best Movie Appearances by Good Bands

One of the greatest crimes Hollywood has ever committed is how they constantly put fake or bad bands into movies, such as The Lone Rangers in Airheads, the rooftop band in Empire Records, or the wannabe Rage Against the Machine band in Hackers.  Luckily for music fans, every once in a while there will be an actual band with talent in a movie.  While this has happened many times, here is a few of the most notable incidents:
1. The Donnas in Drive Me Crazy and Jawbreaker- Two great teen movies, …

Call + Response: Rockumentary

The Call:
Musically, call and response is a term used to describe the action of two musicians playing distinct sounds as a direct response to their musical counterpart. Historically, call and response became prevalent in America during the trans-Atlantic slave trade when slaves would spread their messages, support, and love through song. Cinematically, Call + Response is a rockumentary unlike any other - embracing the roots of rock and roll that extend deep into the foundation of the soul; exemplifying the human condition.
Call + Response is a documentary set out to …

In times like these, the voice of anarchy sings a symphony of reason

Inspirational, righteous and rational are most likely not the first words that would come to mind when speaking about the lead singer of one of the most influential hardcore punk rock bands of our time. However, Henry Rollins is anything but conventional.
America will soon be ushering in a new President, and as the Bush era winds down, Henry Rollins wants to be sure to give the past eight years the final “fuck you” it deserves.
Dubbed the ReCountdown Tour - Henry Rollins has embarked across the country delivering his one of …

Gordon Gano’s Army Comes to America

One unfortunate consequence of the rising gas prices is there has been a decrease in bands overseas coming to the U.S. to tour.  Luckily, some international bands are still throwing caution to the wind and coming over here to do what they do best.  One of the latest bands to do so is Gordon Gano’s Army from the United Kingdom.  In just a couple days, they will embark on a 6 week tour across the midwest and up the east coast.  Gordon Gano’s Army are touring in support of their …
