Celebrate with Polvo and Merge!

Merge Records is celebrating 14 years of cult classicism. Polvo’s debut ep is now on 180 gram vinyl with free download coupon. I bought this ep at a used cd shop in Freeport, IL for 1 dollar in 1998. I listened to it all the time, I took it with me everywhere and then I lost it.

I ordered the record with an amazon gift “card” and when I got it I showed my roommate Brandon. He said, “Oh yeah, ‘give me something brown that sticks like glue, i’ll recognize the taste and appreciate it too.”, a lyric from the song “Every Holy Shroud.” 10 years later I found out where I left it. I left it at his parents house and he got the same pleasure of wearing this cd out.

The ep has 7 songs with some of the most bendy and trippy guitar parts and heavy drumming. The basslines are really cool too. The anti-scene lyrics really helped me get a long when I was 18. It helped me feel better about myself when I wasn’t greeted with a welcoming attitude at shows. It was acceptance. It’s also a bit of a catharsis album. It’s a comfy pillow for a bad mood.

If you haven’t heard it before you can listen to full mp3’s at the Merge Records website.
