Who they are:
Mogwai is a Scottish rock group from Glasgow, Scotland. Formed by Stuart Braithwaite and Dominic Aitchison in 1995, Mogwai has since become one of the most influential and best known names in post-rock. They are an instrumental band comprised of 5 artists:
John Cummings - Guitar/Piano and Computers
Stuart Braithwaite - Guitar
Martin Bulloch - Drums
Barry Burns - Piano/Guitar and Computers
Dominic Aitchison - Bass Guitar
Mogwai stems from the similar genre as bands like Slint, Sigur Rios and Explosions in the Sky. Mogwai sounds like what a piano driven version of Explosions …

The Call:
Musically, call and response is a term used to describe the action of two musicians playing distinct sounds as a direct response to their musical counterpart. Historically, call and response became prevalent in America during the trans-Atlantic slave trade when slaves would spread their messages, support, and love through song. Cinematically, Call + Response is a rockumentary unlike any other - embracing the roots of rock and roll that extend deep into the foundation of the soul; exemplifying the human condition.

Inspirational, righteous and rational are most likely not the first words that would come to mind when speaking about the lead singer of one of the most influential hardcore punk rock bands of our time. However, Henry Rollins is anything but conventional.
America will soon be ushering in a new President, and as the Bush era winds down, Henry Rollins wants to be sure to give the past eight years the final “fuck you” it deserves.
Dubbed the ReCountdown Tour - Henry Rollins has embarked across the country delivering his one of …

Within an ever growing number of bands with punctuation in their names, Los Campesinos! definitely stands out. If you’re a fan of talented musicians that can make your feet move, this is the band for you. Here is the music video for their song “Death to Los Campesinos!” off of their debut album Hold on Now, Youngster…. Be sure to watch the entire video because the ending is very interesting.

Kristen and I went to the merch table before they started playing to find a zine filled with raw and real doom and gloom illustrations with real issues with fiery outcomes. It depicted the rapist getting paid for his murderous deeds in an eternity of hellish pain. This started up interest enough for the both of us and we went straight up to the front. Within 30 seconds of their first song the room was packed and half of us were dancing. Marissa’s voice is powerful in all the best …

One unfortunate consequence of the rising gas prices is there has been a decrease in bands overseas coming to the U.S. to tour. Luckily, some international bands are still throwing caution to the wind and coming over here to do what they do best. One of the latest bands to do so is Gordon Gano’s Army from the United Kingdom. In just a couple days, they will embark on a 6 week tour across the midwest and up the east coast. Gordon Gano’s Army are touring in support of their …

Pelican is the latest victim of theft while touring Europe with Torche, which unfortunately is becoming an ongoing trend. Here is an except from their blog:
Our otherwise excellent tour of Europe hit a severe stroke of bad luck this week. Two days ago we had a spare half hour to spend in Rome before heading to the venue, so we decided to go see the Coliseum. We parked nearby and went to take a brief twenty minute walk around the area. When we returned to our van we found that …

Eric Ayotte is one of those guys that everyone says is the nicest guy ever. In this case, I know that it is a fact. I met Eric many moons ago when he rolled into Buffalo with the Gadabout Traveling Film Fest he runs. Next time I saw him, he was playing songs by himself in a basement. Here is an example of what I saw that night:
