In times like these, the voice of anarchy sings a symphony of reason

Inspirational, righteous and rational are most likely not the first words that would come to mind when speaking about the lead singer of one of the most influential hardcore punk rock bands of our time. However, Henry Rollins is anything but conventional.
America will soon be ushering in a new President, and as the Bush era winds down, Henry Rollins wants to be sure to give the past eight years the final “fuck you” it deserves.
Dubbed the ReCountdown Tour - Henry Rollins has embarked across the country delivering his one of a kind Spoken Word concert. The tour kicked off on September 18th in Ames, Iowa and finishes in Seattle, Washington on November 26th.
“Hoping that the bad times are almost over, I am taking advantage of the current situation to spend the last few nights of the catastrophic Bush administration onstage,” Henry says of the ReCountdown tour. “Things will be so different after he’s gone. For me, the new century will have finally arrived. Since I was last in the cities that I will be visiting on this tour, I have been fairly far and wide and have a lot of new stories to tell. I look forward to spending autumn in my favorite country.”
Having seen a few of Henry’s past Spoken Word concerts - Here is how I could best describe what to expect: Try and imagine Seth from Superbad as a 45 year-old man who is delivering a speech at the same frenetic pace as Robin Williams and has just spent the day listening to Rage Against the Machine’s Battle of Los Angeles album on repeat while looking at pictures of his ex-girlfriend and google’ing “The Bush Doctrine“. Here’s the catch though - You will laugh, cringe, maybe even cry, but after the two hour verbal onslaught you will sit back in awe, and appreciate the poignant and humble message that Rollins embeds into your psyche. Whether it be appreciating how good your life truly is, or how no amount of drugs and alcohol will ever amount to the value of strong friendships, or, how in our present situation, true rebellion is that which is just, virtuous, and honors being a part of something bigger than one’s own selfish concerns.
