Total Bummer

4 October 2008 One CommentHave you ever fallen into a musical rut? You wake up one day and realize you’ve been listening to the
same bands for the past couple years. Or even worse, you realize it’s been months since you’ve listened to music regularly. We’ve all fallen into this rut one time or another in our lives.
Then that one band comes along that opens your eyes. This band speaks to you like no other band has in a long time. Everything just clicks and you wonder ‘where was this band 6 months ago’? Total Bummer is the latest band to do this for me. When I was linked to their Myspace page, I was immediately turned off by the flashing animated background that looks like a forgotten relic from a geocities page made in 1997. Luckily, I decided to press play and my heart melted immediately. Living in Buffalo, I related with “Long Winter” on such a strong level. Brooklyn Cannon’s vocals are so soft and haunting, it makes me want to curl up in a blanket and listen to Total Bummer for hours.
Quick Fact: Brookyln Cannon was previously in Atlas Strategic with Dan Boeckner of Wolf Parade.
So far, Total Bummer has only released one EP titled Day Dream’r on Global Symphonic. If you like the songs on their myspace page, you’ll love the EP.
